The "Müller Thurgau" from the wineyard of the Huber farm
The "Müller Thurgau" arose out of a mixture between Riesling and chasselas and it is named after its grower Prof. Hermann Müller, who came from Thurgau (Swiss) and accomplished this successful mixture in Geisenheim (Germany) in the end of the 19th century. In the Isarco valley, this sort of vine grows mainly in higher elevations on warm lynchets with a fine soil structure. The harsher climate on the higher sea level and the warm days and cool nights during the ripening season provide the Müller Thurgau with its freshness and richness of flavour which make it so coveted.
